Tano North MP distributes mathematical sets to over 2000 BECE candidates

Dr Gideon Boako, the Member of Parliament for Tano North (MP) constituency in the Ahafo Region, has distributed mathematical sets to over 2000 candidates preparing for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the area.

He said the items were to inspire the candidates to remain studious, saying that BECE went beyond learning and writing the paper, urging families to invest in the education of their children and wards.

Dr Boako distributed the mathematical sets on the sidelines of a career guidance and coaching forum at Duayaw-Nkwanta, saying that the candidates ought to be coached in choosing the right career by motivating them to work hard.

He pledged his readiness to assist deserving students to procure their prospectuses as they entered Senior High Schools, promising to continue to provide financial assistance to deserving tertiary students in the area.

Dr Boako urged families to do more in shaping the character of their children and wards, urging them to try as much as possible to provide their basic educational needs to sustain their interest in staying and learning in schools.
The forum was organised by Mrs Veronica Kumi Yeboah, the School Improvement Support Officer (SISO) of the Tano North Circuit of the Ghana Education Service, with support from the MP.

It was on the theme: “My future, my choice” and sought to help the candidates make informed decisions in choosing the programme of study at the SHS and tertiary levels.

The forum was attended by parents, traditional authorities, legal and medical practitioners, as well as security services, who took their turns to motivate the candidates, encouraging them to work hard to achieve high academic laurels.

Mrs Yeboah later told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that she initiated the career guidance and coaching forum four years ago and held annually to offer out-of-classroom education for the BECE candidates and to prepare them adequately for their examination.

She advised the candidates to desist from examination malpractices that could lead to the cancellation of their results, and thereby possibly truncate their education.

Mr Julius Nimfour, the Tano North Municipal Examination Coordinator, advised the candidate against sending foreign materials to the examination halls, saying that doing so would land them in trouble.
