Mr Alfred Tuah-Yeboah, the former Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice, has urged aggrieved supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to remain calm, as the party follows up on the Police invitation of Mr Abubakar Yakubu, its Sunyani East constituency communications officer.
The Cyber Security Department of the Police invited Mr Yakubu, popularly known in the political space as “Baba Amando”, a staunch communicator of the NPP and social media influencer, for questioning.
In a spirit of solidarity, the aggrieved supporters thronged the Bono Regional Police Command headquarters in Sunyani around 0930 hours on Monday, April 13, to welcome Mr Yakubu’s arrival at the regional headquarters.
Interacting with the media after a closed-door meeting with the regional office of the Police cyber-security, Mr Tuah-Yeboah, the counsel explained that: “We just got to know that my client has been invited to the Police headquarters in Accra and we have to be there today”.
“As we speak now, we are yet to know why my client has been invited”, he stated, and entreated the NPP supporters to be patient.
“For now, we can’t confirm whether my client’s invitation is politically motivated or a witch hunt; however, we can’t rule that out”, Mr Tuah-Yeboah stated.
Some of the supporters who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) described Mr Yakubu’s invitation as baseless and politically motivated and called on the leadership of the NPP to follow up the case to its conclusion.
