The head pastor of the Anointed Grace Prayer Ministry at Kuffour Camp has been arrested for allegedly attempting to bury a five-month-old baby alive at Abofrem, in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.
The suspect, Apostle Dr. Richmond Akwasi Frimpong, and his accomplice were taken into custody by the Bibiani police after a concerned community member raised an alarm.
According to an eyewitness, Winfred Agbah, he spotted the pastor and his accomplice at a refuse dump around 11 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, under suspicious circumstances.
Upon approaching them, he discovered that the baby was still alive and immediately raised an alarm.
“The baby was not dead. They intended to bury the child alive for reasons best known to them,” Agbah stated.
Meanwhile, the Chief Linguist of Abofrem, Nana Yaw Badu, told investigators that the pastor had earlier informed him the child was dead and requested a burial site.
He added that he had no knowledge the baby was still alive.
The police in Bibiani have detained both suspects as investigations continue. The baby has been taken to the Abofrem Clinic, where he/she is receiving medical care.
