Thomas Partey pleads not guilty to two new rape charges

Ghana international Thomas Partey pleaded not guilty on Monday to two additional rape charges at Southwark Crown Court, as the criminal case against the former Arsenal midfielder continues to expand.

The new counts, filed in February 2026, accuse the 32-year-old of raping another woman twice in London in December 2020. That woman is now the fourth alleged victim in the proceedings.

Partey, who has been on bail, denied the allegations in court.

He has already pleaded not guilty to five earlier rape counts involving two women and one count of sexual assault against a third complainant, relating to incidents between 2021 and 2022.

He was first charged in 2025 following a Metropolitan Police investigation.

“Thomas Partey continues to deny all charges against him,” his defense lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, said outside court. “He has cooperated with the police throughout. Given there are ongoing legal proceedings, there will be no further comment.”

Prosecutor Arabella MacDonald previously told the court that the latest complainant came forward after initial charges received widespread media coverage. Those new allegations have now been formally joined to the existing case.

A trial has been scheduled for November 2026 at Southwark Crown Court.

Partey, who now plays for Villarreal CF after a £45 million transfer from Atlético Madrid to Arsenal in 2020, remains eligible to play. He is expected to represent Ghana at the World Cup in June 2026.

His bail conditions require him to alert authorities 24 hours before any international travel and forbid any contact with the complainants.
