27th TGMAs: Red carpet marked by bold fashion statements

The red carpet at the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs) featured a wide range of fashion statements as musicians, influencers and guests arrived for Ghana’s biggest music event at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre.

The dress code for this year’s red carpet, “A Touch of Glitter” did showcased outfits ranging from classic designs to avant-modern styles, turning the red carpet into a visual spectacle alongside the awards ceremony.

Afrobeats singer Gyakie appeared in a flowing blue gown embellished with shinny beads, while socialite and musician Mona Faiz Montrage, also known as Hajia 4Real, dazzled in a black feathered outfit looking like queen.

Gospel musicians were also prominent on the red carpet, with the likes of Piesie Esther and Diana Hamilton showcasing their elegant styles.

Several male artistes, among them KiDi, Beeztrap Kofi Kinaata and Medikal, appeared in tailored suits and coats paired with shoes.

Newly crowned Artiste of the Year Black Sherif drew attention on the red carpet with a white, shimmering suit complemented by a veil-style hair covering.

Veteran musician Okyeame Kwame wore a gold overall outfit, which he said was inspired by the need to draw attention to issues surrounding Galamsey.

Despite the range of outfits on display, the red carpet featured limited representation of traditional Ghanaian attire, something noted on the red carpet, given the celebration of local music and culture.
