Let’s sacrifice with sincerity, faith, and obedience to God – Kadjebi Chief Imam

Sheikh Sulemana Shaibu Dachki Gomna, Kadjebi District Chief Imam, has urged Muslims to celebrate Eid al-Adha in sincerity, faith, and obedience to Allah, stressing that true sacrifice goes beyond the slaughtering of animals.

He said the essence of the sacrifice lay in devotion to God, kindness to humanity, and the willingness to give wholeheartedly for the benefit of others.

Sheikh Gomna advised Eid al-Adha prayers at Kadjebi in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region.

Addressing the congregation, he explained that Eid al-Adha commemorated the obedience and faith of Prophet Ibrahim, who was willing to sacrifice his son in submission to Allah’s command.

He said the occasion served as a reminder for Muslims to trust in God, show compassion to one another, and sacrifice selfishness, pride, and greed for the greater good of society.

“The sacrifice is not only about slaughtering an animal, but about devotion, kindness, and willingness to give for the sake of God and humanity,” he stated.

Sheikh Gomna further explained that the sacrifice was a divine command and urged Muslims who were financially capable to offer acceptable animals such as rams, cows, or camels.

He cautioned that animals selected for sacrifice should be healthy and free from defects, noting that animals with blindness, deformities, broken horns, or illness were not acceptable before Allah.

The Chief Imam also called on Muslims and Ghanaians to live in peace, love one another, and work together towards national development.

He offered prayers for President John Dramani Mahama, ministers of state, chiefs in the Kadjebi District, the security services, and media practitioners for their contributions to peace and development in the country.

Sheikh Bashir Salah, a native of Kadjebi domiciled in the United Kingdom, also appealed to residents to remain united and support one another to promote progress and development in the area.

The prayers attracted hundreds of Muslim faithful clad in colourful attire, who joined in worship and thanksgiving to mark the festival.

A ram was slaughtered after the prayers in fulfilment of the symbolic sacrifice associated with Eid al-Adha.
