Police, Military personnel among seven arrested in Gold robbery syndicate

Seven suspects, including active-duty military and police officers, have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service’s Office of the Special Operations Assistant to the IGP for their alleged involvement in a robbery ring targeting cash, gold, and mercury across multiple cities.

The investigation was triggered by a complaint from Mousa Bamba, an Ivorian investor, who said he was lured to Dzorwulu under the guise of buying six kilograms of gold worth $450,000.

Instead, he was robbed at gunpoint by men posing as CID and military personnel.

The police officers have since been suspended.

Between May 23 and 24, 2026, intelligence operations netted three more suspects: Justin Oduro (alias Don King/Mafia), Clement Gyasi, and Farouk Zakari.

All suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue, with authorities still pursuing other members of the syndicate.
