By News1

The Ministry of Health has announced the provision of over 30 fully-funded PhD scholarships for health tutors.

Speaking at the joint matriculation for specialised nursing students on June 25, Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh revealed that the scholarship program is designed to bridge critical gaps in specialist care.

By upgrading the qualifications of tutors, the government aims to elevate the standard of nursing education, moving away from traditional methods to a competency-based model that prioritises practical skills.

Mr. Akandoh underscored the importance of retaining top talent in the educational sector, noting that a robust training system is essential for both local healthcare needs and the government’s managed migration strategy.

“These scholarships are just one part of our vision,” he said.

“We are looking at comprehensive system strengthening, from infrastructure to human resources, to ensure that our healthcare system can withstand future challenges.”
