Four drug peddlers arrested, firearm and narcotics seized in Mankranso operation

The Mankranso District Police Command has arrested four suspected drug peddlers and seized a locally manufactured pistol, ammunition, and quantities of illicit substances following an intelligence-led operation in Kunsu Township.

The early morning raid, conducted on Friday, June 26, 2026, is part of the Ghana Police Service’s ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking and related criminal activities in the Ashanti Region.

The suspects have been identified as Issaka Musah, 22; Amankwah Emmanuel, 25; Kwame Boateng, 32; and Appiah Prince, 23. All four are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

According to a press release issued on June 29 by the Police Public Affairs Unit in Kumasi, officers recovered one locally manufactured pistol loaded with two BB rounds of ammunition, quantities of suspected Tramadol and red capsules, dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, a whitish powdery substance wrapped in paper, suspected to be cocaine and an amount of GH¢5,647.40, believed to be proceeds from the alleged illicit drug trade during the operation.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects have admitted ownership of the recovered exhibits, the release stated. They will be arraigned before court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to combating drug-related offences and organised crime, and is appealing to the public to continue providing timely and credible information to assist in identifying and apprehending individuals engaged in criminal activities.
