Personnel from the Kpando Fire Station of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have recovered the body of a male adult from a flooded drainage channel following heavy rains that caused severe overflow in the Kpando Municipality.
The incident occurred on Friday, July 3, 2026, when torrential rainfall led to the flooding of a major drainage channel near the Kpando-Gabi M/A Junior High School.
A distress call was received by the station, reporting that an individual had accidentally fallen into the surging waters.

Firefighters promptly mobilised and proceeded to the scene, where they conducted a thorough search and recovery operation.
The body of the victim was successfully retrieved from the channel and subsequently handed over to the Ghana Police Service for identification, investigation, and necessary legal formalities.

The GNFS extends its condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
In light of the ongoing rainy season, the Service urges the general public to exercise extreme caution during and after downpours.

Residents are strongly advised to avoid crossing flooded drains, streams, or any waterways, as floodwaters often carry strong currents and hidden hazards that can prove fatal.
The GNFS remains committed to protecting life and property and encourages citizens to report emergencies promptly through the national emergency hotlines.
