According to preliminary police investigations, the deceased, his wife, Peace Uzorchuku, the two suspects, Daniel Victor Eze and David Oko Ewa, and another Nigerian national, Godwin Nwafor, were all residing together in a three-bedroom apartment at the Sanzirigu address.

Police launched investigations immediately after receiving a report that the victim had been found unresponsive.

A team of investigators who visited the scene observed that the deceased had sustained a deep cut wound to his forehead, while a towel had been stuffed into his mouth. The room had also been ransacked, suggesting a violent struggle.

During a thorough crime scene examination, investigators recovered a wooden pestle suspected to have been used in the attack, along with other evidential materials which have been forwarded for forensic analysis.

The body was conveyed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where a medical officer confirmed his death. It has since been deposited at the hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

Through intelligence-led operations, police intercepted and arrested the two suspects at Tatale on the same day as they attempted to flee into the Republic of Togo via the Tatale route.

They were subsequently handed over to the Tamale District Criminal Investigations Department to assist with ongoing inquiries.

During interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to conspiring to murder the deceased, claiming that he had been withholding proceeds they had obtained through internet fraud activities.

A search conducted following their arrest led to the recovery of several items suspected to have been stolen from the deceased’s room, including multiple mobile phones, laptop computers, a tablet, jewellery, clothing, wristwatches, personal documents and other valuables. All recovered items have been retained as exhibits to support the investigation.

The two suspects remain in police custody and are expected to be arraigned before court today, Monday, 13th July 2026, to facilitate further legal proceedings.

The Northern Regional Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all persons involved in the crime are brought to justice. The Command also urged the public to continue supporting law enforcement by volunteering credible information to help combat crime in the region.
