The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the death of Vincent Amo Amponsah, a 24-year-old nurse trainee, whose body was discovered at his residence in Kwadaso on Wednesday, 15 July 2026.

The deceased is believed to have been dead for approximately three days before the discovery. His remains have been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) Mortuary pending autopsy.

Preliminary reports indicate that a sponge was found tied around the deceased’s neck, and bloodstains were observed on the walls of the hall where the body was discovered.

While authorities have not officially determined the cause of death, family members have rejected suggestions of suicide, citing the absence of any structure in the room from which the deceased could have hanged himself.

Two mobile phones belonging to the deceased were recovered from the scene and taken into police custody for examination.

No suspects have been identified or arrested.

The family has appealed to the public for any information that could assist the investigation and has called on the police to conduct a thorough forensic inquiry to establish the true circumstances surrounding the death.

Police say investigations are ongoing, and further updates will be provided upon completion of medical and forensic examinations.
