Otumfuo applauds Ghana Police’s new crime-fighting edge

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has heaped praise on the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and the Ashanti Regional Police Command for their relentless efforts to tackle crime and ensure public safety across the country.

The commendation was delivered on Wednesday when the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Commissioner of Police (COP) Mr. Arthur Osei Akoto, led the IGP’s Special Operations Team (SOT) on a courtesy visit to the Manhyia Palace.

The delegation, headed by Superintendent Augustine Dawson-Ahmoah, formally introduced the elite unit to the King.

Otumfuo noted that the intelligence-led operations conducted by the SOT have yielded measurable results, particularly in reducing narcotics trafficking, armed robbery, and human trafficking within the region.

He urged the officers to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and discipline, reminding them that policing remains a vocation of sacrifice and integrity.

The Director of the SOT expressed gratitude for the King’s encouragement and assured His Royal Majesty of the team’s unwavering resolve to safeguard lives and property, in alignment with the Ghana Police Service’s broader mandate.
