The Electricity Company of Ghana’s (ECG) office in Nkwanta South Municipality has taken delivery of electricity meters for distribution to residents, following repeated appeals for improved access to services in the area.
Mr Joseph Awal Antwi, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nkwanta South, accompanied by the Municipal ECG Manager and his team, visited the Potripor community to inform residents about the arrival of the meters and preparations for their installation.
Mr Antwi said the distribution and installation exercise would begin soon and appealed to residents to cooperate with ECG officials to ensure a smooth and successful process.
He expressed appreciation to residents for their patience while awaiting the meters and urged them to support ECG personnel who would be deployed to various communities across the Municipality.
The MCE noted, however, that some communities in the Municipality were yet to be connected to the national electricity grid.
He assured residents that the Member of Parliament for the area was engaging the appropriate authorities to address the outstanding challenges and facilitate the extension of electricity services to those communities.
Mr Antwi urged residents to remain patient and continue working with the Municipal Assembly and ECG as efforts were intensified to improve electricity access throughout the Municipality.
He advised residents to contact the Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly or the ECG Municipal Office for information on the distribution schedule and ongoing plans to connect additional communities to the national grid.
The arrival of the meters is expected to enhance access to electricity services and support socio-economic activities in communities across the Nkwanta South Municipality.
