Morgan Nero, a highlife musician, alongside a lineup of other artistes, thrilled a large crowd of revelers at the Agbeliza artiste night, held as part of activities marking this year’s Agbeliza festival at Avenorpedo in the Akatsi South Municipality.
The artiste night, held on after the main Agbeliza durbar, formed part of the week-long celebration organised by the Avenorpedo Agbeliza Central Planning Committee to mark the 39th edition of the festival in the Volta Region.
Morgan Nero, the 2026 Unsung Telecel Ghana Music Award (TGMA) winner, known for his energetic stage presence and popular hit songs, took to the stage to a rousing reception from the crowd, and delivered a performance that had many in attendance dancing and singing along throughout his set.
Other artistes who graced the occasion including Kpese Boii, Morgan Nero, Mikki Boi, Nature Drip, Taflesh, Winnard OK, and Taylorz DC, equally put up electrifying performances, and showcased a mix of highlife, dancehall and gospel tunes that kept the atmosphere lively well into the night.
Disc jokers such as renowned DJ Stephen and DJ Cent were on the turntables, alongside Hypeman Godfada and Hypeman Gaza, delivered extraordinary music playing skills that held the crowd engaged throughout the night.
The event attracted a large turnout of residents, natives and visitors from within and outside the Akatsi South Municipality, many of whom described the night as one of the highlights of this year’s Agbeliza celebrations.
Mr Reuben Dorkenu, the Secretary of the festival’s Central Planning Committee said the entertainment segment was deliberately included in the festival’s programme of activities, to attract the youth and give them a sense of belonging to the celebration of their culture and heritage.
“The show also served as a platform for upcoming local talents to showcase their skills alongside established acts, with organisers noting that such opportunities were important for nurturing young talent within the Volta Region’s entertainment industry,” he said.
Other members of the Central Planning Committee, who were present to grace the occasion, commended the performing artistes for their contribution to the success of the night, while describing the performances as a fitting build-up to the main Agbeliza durbar.
The artiste night has, over the years, become an integral part of the Agbeliza festival calendar, which draw crowds that rival the main durbar itself and helped to sustain interest in the annual celebration among the youth.
As the curtains came down on the night’s performances, organisers expressed satisfaction with the turnout and conduct of patrons, describing the event as a successful to climax the main Agbeliza durbar.
It was held under the theme “From Vision to Impact, Strengthening Our Health System Through Consolidation.”
