At least 13 people have died and 18 others injured after a Toyota Hiace and a Ford Transit collided head-on early Wednesday on the Accra-Aflao highway, near God’s Love Herbal Clinic.
The accident occurred around dawn when the Ford, ascending a hill from Aflao, crashed into the side of the Hiace descending from Accra.
GNFS PRO DO II Ebenezer Yenzu said the impact left both vehicles extensively damaged, with the Hiace’s doors mangled and the Ford severely wrecked.
The Hiace driver is among the survivors.
Firefighters from Sege arrived within eight minutes of the 5:58 a.m. alert.
They freed trapped victims and rushed all 18 injured to Sege Polyclinic; some were later transferred to Ada East District Hospital.
Authorities cleared the debris and reopened the road after the rescue.
