The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with the killing of a 26-year-old tricycle rider, Akolbila Blessing, following a dispute over sales proceeds in Dulugu-Zuarungu, in the Bolgatanga East District.
The suspects, Avandiba Atubiga Kante (26), Atua Atombire Mpika (40), Amale Nyaaba Nicholas (30), Atua Ayinbotima (22), Atuah Nsobila Prosper (21), and Ayine Albert Sunday (39), are accused of attacking and beating the victim after an argument over money from the tricycle he was operating.
According to police, the incident occurred on August 27, 2026, when Blessing reportedly failed to remit sales to the tricycle owner, identified as Mpika.
The disagreement escalated, leading to the alleged assault by the six individuals.
The victim was found unconscious in his room the following day and rushed to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police say investigations into the circumstances surrounding the attack are ongoing, with authorities working to establish each suspect’s specific role in the incident.
The Upper East Regional Police Command has reiterated its warning against the use of violence in resolving disputes, urging the public to channel grievances through lawful means.
The Command has assured residents of its commitment to enforcing the law and ensuring that anyone found culpable faces justice.
