Ghana Police have arrested a 32-year-old suspect in the brutal killing of a prominent medical doctor and his wife, and stealing the couple’s saloon car.
Abraham Awendok, who worked as an errand boy for Dr. Jesse Amuah and his wife, Elizabeth Esi Amuah, was apprehended following an international manhunt.
He was deported from Dubai on August 30 after Interpol issued a Red Notice against him.
Authorities confirm Awendok fled Ghana shortly after allegedly murdering the couple and making off with cash from their home.
During questioning, the suspect reportedly confessed to the killings.
The victims’ remains have since been recovered and transferred to the Police Hospital, according to IGP Christian Tetteh Yohunu, who announced the development on Monday.
The couple had been missing since March 23, 2026. A formal complaint was filed on April 22 after their residence was found locked and their vehicle, a Nissan Sunny with registration GX 159-X, was missing.
A specialised task force, including forensic experts, was deployed, leading to the earlier arrest of two other individuals assisting with inquiries.
Awendok remains in custody as investigations continue.
