In a video circulating on social media, Jamaican artist, Popcaan is seen openly smoking what is believed to be marijuana in the presence of some police officers.
In Ghana, the possession and especially smoking of marijuana is considered illegal and any individual caught in the act is liable to a jail term.

Ghanaian artist, Kwaw Kese unfortunately fell victim of this when he was arrested on November 24th, 2014 for allegedly smoking cannabis in public.
He was arrested at a wine shop close to Plus Two pub at Nhyiaseo, a suburb of Kumasi.
Kwaw was jailed and subsequently found guilty by the court of law after days of being subjected to some harsh treatment.
A social media fan, found it weird Kwaw was arrested and maltreated for something a foreigner was doing so openly without fear.
Joining the cause, Kwaw Kese reposted the Instagram post with the caption’ “Discuss”
Popcaan, may have chanced on the post and also had a reply in hand for Kwaw Kese.
Popcaan wrote;
”I am not a foreigner bro, we all came from Africa don’t be mad.. let’s try to organize a meeting with the government to legalize weed… it’s simple unruly”.
