A 40-year-old senior nurse, Salomey Awity Bafoh, has been granted GHC100,000 bail by the Adenta Circuit Court after three weeks in custody.
Bafoh is accused of being the middleman for the infamous “Ghana Jollof” social media account, allegedly helping to spread false news.
The court, presided over by Judge Angela Attachie, granted bail with two sureties. As part of her bail conditions, Bafoh must report to the Hansua Police Station in Techiman every two weeks.
The state, represented by the Deputy Attorney-General, did not oppose the bail request.
Bafoh has been charged with abetting the publication of false news and has pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution alleges she was the link between Ghana and Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, the woman believed to be behind the “Ghana Jollof” handle, who is currently in the UK and wanted by police.
Police claim to have found financial transactions linking Bafoh to the activities.
Her lawyer, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, successfully argued for her release after she had spent three weeks in remand.
The case will return to court on February 17, 2027.
