Ghanaian singer, Wendy Shay, says she has lost a deal worth thousands of dollars due to a ban by Ghana’s Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).

In 2015, the authority placed a ban on celebrities and influential personalities endorsing alcoholic beverages.

According to Wendy Shay, she was unaware of the ban and had started a process of securing a deal with an foreign alcoholic beverage company.

”‪I just lost a deal worth 1000s‘ of dollars with this foreign alcohol company..I didn’t know in GH Celebrities can’t advertise for alcoholic beverages according to FDA ‬Like Seriously?!”, she posted on Facebook.

The singer has asked celebrities to ‘wake up’ and fight the ban by the FDA.

‪”Small food we go chop too u wan take 4rm our mouth ‬
‪Gh celebs wake up !!FDA Lift dat ban!!‬ #SHAYGANG”, she added.

The FDA had explained earlier that the ban on celebrities advertising alcoholic beverages is an adherence to a World Health Organization (WHO) policy to protect minors.

Personalities including Edem, Stonebwoy, George Quaye and many others have kicked against the ban.
