Ghana’s Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has responded to a post by singer Wendy Shay concerning the ban on celebrities advertising alcoholic beverages.

Wendy Shay said she lost a deal with a foreign alcoholic beverage company worth thousands of dollars due to the ban.

According to the singer, she was unaware of the ban and she has urged celebrities to fight it.

Responding to her comments, the FDA’s Facebook page debunked Wendy Shay’s claim that they are destroying her source of income.

”Dear Wendy Shay Official, The guidelines on the advertisement of food states clearly that no well-known personality or professional shall be used in alcoholic beverage advertisement”

‘The FDA is not trying to take food away from your mouth but rather trying to protect the young ones who idolise you from the abuse of alcohol”, the FDA stated.

The authority hopes to collaborate with Wendy Shay to educate the public on the dangers of minors consuming alcohol due to the endorsements by celebrities.
