Ghanaian musician, Rex Omar, claims that artists are usually lured into taking drugs by their record labels.

The veteran singer made this shocking claim while commenting on drug abuse among celebrities.

Rex Omar feels it is unfair to always tag artists as wayward because some tend to use illicit drugs.

He also stated that it took the grace of God for him to avoid getting into the messy situation while with a record label.

“A lot of artistes are tricked into doing drugs by the labels they work with. In most cases, they’re tricked into these things and that was the level I got to until I left. It was only by the Grace of God,” Rex Omar revealed.

He said because these artistes are hungry for success, their labels use that hunger to hook them to drugs.

Rex Omar stated that the drugs, sometimes, are meant to relieve the artist of stress and fatigue.

“Because they’re passionate for success, they want to play till the end.
And when their managers see this, they start to hook them on drugs to enhance their performance and help them overcome fatigue. After taking the drugs continually, they get hooked to it”, he said.

Rex Omar was however quick to admit that some artists were already taking drugs before venturing into music.
