AAMUSTED students urged to avoid distraction

Professor Frederick Kwaku Sarfo, Vice Chancellor of the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), has asked students to avoid distractions that add no value to the quality of education and training they receive from the university.

They should adopt positive attitudes towards their studies, avoid procrastination, be disciplined, avoid examination malpractices, and use proper channels of communication to address grievances.

Professor Sarfo made the call at the sixth matriculation of the university in Kumasi.

A total of 13,525, made up of 7,333 males and 6,192 females, were admitted to pursue various undergraduate and post-graduate degree programmes at the Asante Mampong and Kumasi campuses of the university.

He said the university’s programmes were structured to empower them for self-employment, enabling them not only to create sustainable livelihoods for themselves, but also to generate employment opportunities for others.

They would receive carefully designed industry-relevant skills and important entrepreneurial training as an integral part of the comprehensive academic package of the university.

He commended the government on the ongoing works on the 3,500 capacity GETfund-sponsored Convention Hall to provide a modern, spacious auditorium for major ceremonies.

Professor Sarfo said management was resolved to upgrade existing facilities, while embarking on new projects to meet the increasing student enrolment at the university.
