Adamus Resources Limited, a gold prospecting company in the Ellembelle District, has cut the sod for the construction of an ultra-modern three-unit Kindergarten classroom block for the Nkroful Catholic Primary School.
The move followed an approval by Madam Angela List, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ADAMUS Resources Limited, a subsidiary of Nguvu Mining Company.
The education facility, expected to be completed within six months, comes with an office, a canteen and a well-gated block, Mr Awumbilla Salifu of the Public Affairs department of ADAMUS Resources at Salman, told the Ghana News Agency during the ground-breaking ceremony by the ADAMUS officials and elders of Nkroful.
He said the Mining Company was committed to education-related projects because education was one of the tools for reducing poverty.
Mr Salifu mentioned the renovation of the Nyaneba Model Junior High School block to modern standards, the renovation of the Nkroful Health Centre with a donation of medical equipment, as well as the reconstruction of a broken bridge over the river Subre linking the old and new town, as some social intervention projects executed at Nkroful.
He also mentioned a Community Health Primary Services ( CHPS) Compound under construction for the Ankobra community.
As part of its commitment to education, “currently, about 150 students in the catchment area and surrounding communities in tertiary institutions are on the Adamus Resources scholarship scheme “.
Mr Salifu said each year the Company sponsored about 150 students in the Nzema area, with priority given to communities within its catchment area, such as Salman, Nkroful, Teleku-Bokazo and Asanda.
Touching on recent developments at Adamus, he said, “The Company needs the communities, and they also need us. We appreciate their support because ADAMUS cannot succeed without them.
Mr Salifu said,” Sometimes we understand them. You see, ADAMUS is the only mining Company within this locality. There is a lot of pressure on us; everyone is expecting ADAMUS to do something.
Mr Salifu used the occasion to appeal to the communities to exercise patience and support the Company to grow.
“Currently, we are going through some challenges. They should help us to improve upon the Mine, then we can extend some of these things to the communities.
Nana Senza Erzah Abusuakpanyinli of Nkroful, on behalf of the Chief of Nkroful, Nana Kwasi Kutua, in a libation, invoked spirits of their ancestors to stand behind the mining Company in whatever it was going through to be firm and execute the project.
He said the town was in dire need of the project and would receive the blessings of the Chief and the elders of the town.
Madam Jennifer Akua Afriyie, headteacher of the Nkroful Catholic Primary School, on behalf of the staff, expressed profound gratitude to Madam Angela List and the entire Management of ADAMUS Resources for the prompt response.
She observed that managing the primary school and the kindergarten block, which were far apart from the school, exceeded the work of administration.
Madam Akua Afriyie said that with the KG block now on the same compound, it would ease the burden on her in terms of monitoring.
She appealed to the contractor to complete the project within the schedule.
Mr Francis Kwaw Mensah, Assembly Member for Nkroful Enlunlibo electoral area, told GNA that he would continue to lobby the company to bring more development to his electoral area.
He said the town would witness more developmental projects in the coming years.
