The Reverend Richard Mawutor Buamah, Klefe District Pastor of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana on Saturday advised Christians to use the Lent season to admit their shortcomings and take steps towards total transformation.
He said they should acknowledge their frailty and work according to God’s standards.
Rev. Buamah gave the advice in a telephone interview with the Ghana News Agency.
He noted that to admit their frailty was to admit that without Jesus Christ they could do nothing.
The Rev. Buamah continued that to work to God’s standard was to depend on Him daily so that their services, leadership, worship, and conduct reflected His holiness.
He said God looked beyond outward performance to motive, faithfulness, obedience, and sincerity.
The Rev. Minister noted that it was possible for them to be active in church, busy in ministry and yet fell short of God’s standard.
He explained that repentance was not only about words but should be an honest reflection of their works, adding that they could not experience forgiveness and renewal without admitting and confession of their sins.
“Pride delays restoration, but humility opens the door of grace,” he stated.
Rev. Buamah was of the view that if Christians could humble themselves and align their lives with God’s perfect standard, He would restore and strengthen them.
He urged them to acknowledge their sins, return to their Heavenly Father, and commit to living and serving according to His divine standards.
The Rev Buamah stated that the Lent season called on all Christians for deep reflection, honest confession, and renewed commitment to God.
He asked all Christians to use the Lent season to pray fervently for the nation and her leaders, backsliders, and the lost adding “let us continue praying even for each other as Christians.”
