Advanced Global University College (formerly Advanced Global College) has held its 13th Congregation in Tamale, with a total of 685 health professionals graduating.
The graduands comprised 85 Medical Counter Assistants, 250 Diploma holders in Dispensing Technology, 127 Higher National Diploma holders in Dispensing Technology, 95 Higher National Diploma holders in Medical Laboratory Technology, and 128 Certificate holders in Medical Laboratory Technology.
The ceremony, held under the theme “Advancing Healthcare through Skills, Integrity and Innovation,” brought together traditional authorities, health sector regulators, university partners, parents and students to celebrate academic excellence and institutional growth.

Dr. Ahmed Zaruk Nuhu, Principal of Advanced Global University College, said the institution’s new University College status had been approved by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) following a successful re-accreditation process.
He said the College was preparing to introduce new degree programmes, including a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Nursing and BSc in Medical Laboratory Technology, which were currently undergoing accreditation.
Dr. Nuhu said the Diagnostic Medical Imaging programme had already received approval from GTEC and the Allied Health Professions Council, with the first cohort having completed one semester under affiliation with the University for Development Studies (UDS).
He highlighted the impact of the College’s Medical Centre, which now serves about 2,000 patients monthly and is being assessed by the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency for an upgrade to primary hospital status.

Dr. Nuhu emphasised the College’s role in strengthening healthcare delivery in the northern part of the country through the training of skilled medical laboratory technicians, pharmacy technicians and imaging professionals.
“Our graduates are competitive, professionally certified and committed to serving their communities,” he said.
Professor Abdul Nashirudeen Mumuni, Dean of the Department of Medical Imaging at the University for Development Studies, who chaired the event, encouraged the graduands to embrace innovation and entrepreneurship, as the health workforce continued to outgrow available public-sector placements.
Dr. Chrysantus Kubio, Northern Regional Director of Health, in a speech read on his behalf, urged the graduands to see graduation not as an end, but as the beginning of a lifelong professional responsibility.
“Beyond your certificates, your character will define your success. Integrity must always guide your actions, especially as custodians of medicines, laboratory results, diagnostic images and confidential patient information,” he said.
