A local blacksmith accused of manufacturing weapons for armed robbers has been arrested, though three key members of the criminal network remain on the run, police have confirmed.
The operation, conducted on April 21, 2026, by the Special Operations Assistant to the Inspector-General of Police, targeted a suspected robbery syndicate operating in the Akatsi area.
Authorities say the raid led to the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of a significant cache of weapons from the outskirts of Gavekope.

Those in custody include Enoch Adoglo (arrested at Gavekope), Cephas Aniwaa, the blacksmith alleged to have been manufacturing and supplying firearms to the group, and David Adzinu.
Police say they are being processed for court.
Items seized during the operation include seven single-barrel rifles, five locally manufactured pistols, one revolver, 64 rounds of ACP ammunition, 11 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, four live BB cartridges and 18 spent BB cartridges, three mobile phones and winding tools.

Despite the arrests, police have identified three central figures who remain fugitives: Mensah Kedzi, linked to several robberies, including an incident on April 3, 2026; Akakpo, described as an ex-convict; and Ageh.
Authorities are actively pursuing the three and have appealed to the public for information that could lead to their capture.
The Ghana Police Service, which released a statement on April 26, 2026, said the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to curb robbery activity in the region.

No timeline for further arrests has been given, and police have not disclosed additional incidents linked to the group beyond the April 3 case.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mensah Kedzi, Akakpo, or Ageh is urged to contact the nearest police station.
