Akufo-Addo extends ban on public gatherings till May 31

President Akufo-Addo has extended the ban on public gatherings in Ghana till May 31, 2020.

In his address to the nation on Sunday, May, 10, he said that the move was necessary to combat the coronavirus.

President Akufo-Addo had earlier extended the ban on the social gatherings by two more weeks effective Monday, April 27, 2020.

The ban was first imposed on March 15 by the President and was due to expire on April 27.

Ghana has recorded 4,700 confirmed cases of coronavirus as at May 10, 2020.

494 people who tested positive for coronavirus out of the 4,700 have recovered.

22 patients who contracted the virus have died in Ghana.
