Akufo Addo supports Covid-19 fund with 3 month’s salary

His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo has pledged to support the covid-19 relief fund with his 3 month’s salary, starting in April.

The president last night announced the establishment of a fund to receive contributions and donations to assist those who will be greatly affected by the new coronavirus disease.

Chaired by the former Chief Justice Sophia Akufo, COVID-19 Fund will be managed by an independent board of trustees, who will account for every penny of the money after the war has ended.

Parts of Ghana will from Monday, March 30th 2020 be on lockdown as parts of measure taken by government to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Delivering a late night address on the measures taken to tackle covid-19 in Ghana, the president reminded citizens of the need to stay home for the next two weeks.

He said:

“For the next two weeks, I urge all of you, especially residents in the affected areas in Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi, to be reminded everyday that the frontline of the fight against coronavirus, is your front door. If you cross it, you and your family will likely be infected so please stay at home,” he pleaded.
