The Ministry of Finance has pushed back against claims by the Coalition of Unpaid Newly Posted Staff of the Ghana Education Service (GES), insisting that all outstanding salary arrears owed to recently recruited teachers have been fully settled.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, the Ministry acknowledged the coalition’s appeal but clarified that the 6,300 GES staff recruited in 2024 without financial clearance have all received their due payments under a structured arrangement approved by Cabinet.
According to the Ministry, the government inherited the 6,300 staff in 2025 and subsequently secured Cabinet approval to clear their salaries in four tranches. That process, the Ministry stated, has now been completed.
“The Ministry of Finance can confirm that all 6,300 staff covered by this arrangement have been paid,” the statement read.
The Ministry further noted that there are no outstanding requests for financial clearance from the GES awaiting action, urging any staff member still facing unresolved salary or arrears issues to contact the Ghana Education Service directly for assistance with payroll or administrative matters.
The clarification comes amid growing agitation by the coalition of newly posted teachers who have been demanding the release of their unpaid salaries.
