The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has strongly refuted claims that one of its personnel stole GHC308,000 from the Authority, following a media publication that suggested misappropriation of funds.
The Authority categorically denied the allegations in a statement, clarifying that the money in question does not belong to the DVLA and was not taken from any of its accounts.
According to the statement, the matter under investigation is a personal dispute involving a former National Service Person assigned to the DVLA who is currently on contract with the Authority.
The DVLA emphasised that at no point has it suffered any financial loss in connection with this case.
“The alleged offence is not connected to the operations, finances or official activities of the Authority but rather two different individuals,” the statement read.
“It is therefore inaccurate and misleading to portray the incident in a manner that suggests the Authority was the victim of the alleged theft.”
The DVLA assured the public that its financial systems remain secure and that its operations continue without interruption.
The Authority reiterated its commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and accountability, and pledged full cooperation with the police should the need arise.
The DVLA also urged media houses and the public to exercise restraint and accuracy in reporting, to avoid creating the erroneous impression that public funds have been misappropriated.
