Alvaro Morata scored an unprecedented hat-trick of offside goals during Juventus’ 2-0 Champions League defeat to Barcelona on Wednesday night.
The former Chelsea striker regularly frustrated fans with his careless positioning at Stamford Bridge and is seemingly continuing to live up to that reputation.
Barca took the lead early on as Ousmane Dembele’s shot deflected in after just 14 minutes.
Morata would then go on to equalise three times, with all three being chalked off.
His first equaliser came not long after the opener, but he made his run too early to get on the end of Juan Cuadrado’s cross.
The second was a more narrow call with the Spaniard’s shoulder adjudged to be ahead of the last man as he again latched on to a pass from Cuadrado.
Then, just before the hour mark, Morata’s unique hat-trick was complete.
He left a trailing leg in an offside position as the ball was played into the box and he fired past Neto for a third time.
VAR took a long look, but ultimately made the correct decision and ruled it out.
It was all downhill from here for Juve as Mehril Demiral was sent off and Lionel Messi doubled the lead from the penalty spot. The game ended 2-0.
