Dr Baffour Awuah, new Director-General of the Ghana Health Service has had his appointment withdrawn.
The new Director-General, who until his appointment was a Medical Director of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) says, there were no reasons assigned to the decision.
The withdrawal of appointment comes two weeks after Dr Baffour Awuah was appointed by his excellency Nana Akuffo Addo.
In a letter signed by the Executive secretary to the President, Nana Bedietuo Awuah, dated November 5, 2019, Dr Awuah was appointed to act in the capacity as the Director-General of the GHS, “…pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the governing board of the Service, given in consultation with the Public Services Commission.”
Dr Baffour Awuah is a Consultant Radiation Oncologist at Kath and has been working there since June 2010.
He was appointed as a replacement for Dr Anthony Nsiah Asare, the immediate past Director-General.
