All individuals who arrived in Ghana from abroad after March 2 are to be identified and tested for Coronavirus.
The directive has been issued by President Akufo-Addo in the wake of the growing number of cases in the country.
Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, revealed this information on Thursday to the media.
According to him, officials were looking to start the tracing from those who came into the country from March 15 but the president directed they start from March 3.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah assured that government has accurate data on all arrivals and this will help in identification and testing of individuals.
“The Ghana Immigration Service, working with the Ministry of Communication, and their agencies has a whole data base of all those who came in”, he said.
Government as part of measures to contain the coronavirus outbreak in the country began quarantining all passengers disembarking at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on March 21.
Meanwhile, Akufo-Addo seems reluctant to declare a lockdown despite the increasing coronavirus cases in the country.
He indicated that he is not considering a lockdown currently because of the implications it will have on ordinary Ghanaians.
He said these ordinary Ghanaians form majority of the country’s population, therefore, it will be prudent to consider certain factors before a lockdown.
President Akufo-Addo made these known in his address to leaders of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) at Jubilee House on March 26.
