International footballer Mesut Özil is happy after discovering that a football club in Ghana has been named after him.
The name of the club is Abiriw Özil Football Club and it is located in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The Arsenal star’s agent, Dr. Erkut Sogut, was in Ghana at the beginning of December and took the opportunity to visit the club in Abiriw.
Dr. Erkut Sogut presented the players with some Arsenal jerseys on behalf of the German international.
After discovering the existence of the club, the footballer felt very honored by the gesture.
Mesut Özil was very pleased to have a football club named after him in Ghana.
He took to his Twitter page to announce the news to his over 24 million followers.

Dr. Erkut Sogut took the opportunity to scout for some football talents while in Ghana.
He was also the guest speaker at events held in the University of Ghana, Legon and the Ghana Institute of Journalism.
