Mr Abdul Rahman Suleman, the Chairman of the Heavy-Duty Artisans Association of Ghana (GHAART), has hinted that his outfit is preparing seriously to assume the operation of the defunct Neoplan Ghana Limited.
He said the leadership of GHAART was negotiating with the appropriate authorities to secure the running of the once vibrant local manufacturing company, currently abandoned.
Mr Suleman disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, at the close of a day’s innovative seminar, organized for its members and other stakeholders, at Suame in the Ashanti Region.
“We have all it takes to bring Neoplan back to life, to boost the country’s automobile and transport industries, thereby, creating more job opportunities for the youth, and growing the local and national economies,” he stated.
The Chairman said it was in line with that ambition that such training programmes were being organized to sharpen the skills of the artisans to be abreast with local and global technological advisors in the automobile industry.

Facilitators treated topics like: Climate Change; Youth and Women Empowerment; Challenges of Local Manufacturers; Innovative Engineering, and a host of others.
They (Facilitators) included: Mr Emmanuel Peterson, International Consultant, Adminex Ghana Limited; Mr Abugri; Mr Kwame Amoah of the Ghana National Association of Garages and Mr Kwadwo Tuffour, a Heavy Duty Manufacturer, Suame Magazine.
Students from the Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI) and Suame Technical Institute, joined GHAART members and other industry players for the workshop, which was chaired by Mr Charles Osei, Assistant Head of Heavy-Duty Department, KTI.
