Assemblies of God Church holds retirement service for its Awudome Tsito Area Head

An elaborate retirement service has been held for the Reverend Samuel Kwame Amegboe, Awudome Tsito Area Head of the Assemblies of God Church after 22 years of fruitful ministry.

The ceremony, which was held on Saturday October 11, at the Awudome Senior High School Assembly Hall at Awudome Tsito, brought together pastors and their spouses from the Volta South Region of the Church, pastors from sister churches in the Awudome area and beyond and traditional and political leaders.

Rev Amegboe who graduated from the Church’s Bible College in 2003 was posted to the New Life Assemblies of God Church at Awudome Tsito where he deligently and faithfully served the Lord until his retirement.

According to his profile, he was the Regional Coordinator of the Church’s Prison ministry from 2024 to 2025, Chairman of Awudome Tsito Zone of the Pentecostal and Charismatic Council from 2023 to 2025 and Vice Chairman of Awudome Tsito Local Council of Churches from 2023 to 2025.

He was also Secretary of the Ho West District of the Church from 2019 to 2022 and a Member of the Awudome Tsito/Peki Peace Building Committee from 2023 to date.

Rev Amegboe who hailed from Adaklu Kodzobi in the Adaklu district, was described by the church as a vessel of the living word, declaring truth in times of compromise, offering hope where despair reigned and leading many to salvation, healing and restoration.

“The lives you have touched, the hearts you have nurtured and vision you have carried forward are all a lasting legacy that will continue to bear fruit long after you step down from active service,” the Church said of him.

Pastor Mrs Esther Asumabire Sakyi, President of the Volta South Minister’s Wives Association, described Mrs Mercy Amegboe, wife of Rev Amegboe as a good mother to many, a woman full of goodness, love, warm heart and unwavering commitment.

Rev Albert Akuamoah, Volta South Region Treasurer of the Church, in a sermon likened Rev Amegboe to Epaphroditus in the Bible, who was described as a good servant, soldier and messenger of the Lord.

He noted that like Epaphroditus, Rev Amegboe stood for the truth even in times of challenges, adding, “even though Christians as servants, messengers and soldiers of the Lord may fall, they will rise up with the help of the Holy Spirit.”

Rev Akuamoah whose sermon was taken from Philippians chapter 2: 25 – 30, called on Christians to emulate the shinning virtues exhibited by Epaphroditus and Rev Amegboe.

He stated that joy and honour awaited every Christian who stood for the Lord in truth even in the face of adversity.

Mr Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, Member of Parliament for Ho West in an address delivered on his behalf, was full of praise for Rev Amegboe for his untiring efforts to win souls for the Lord.

He urged all Christians to always pray for their leaders, including President John Dramani Mahama to enable them to continue serving them faithfully and effectively.

Togbe Dzegblade IV, Chief of Adaklu Kodzobi, extolled the virtues of Rev Amegboe and called on the youth to see him as their role model.

He said he was sure he would extend the dynamism he exhibited in the work of the Lord to his community.

Rev Amegboe was presented with citations from the New Life Assemblies of God Church, Pastors from the Volta South Region of the Church, Awudome Tsito Local Council of Churches and the Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches Council.

He was also presented with an undisclosed amounts of money by the Church and individuals.
