Assembly Member lauds Ellembelle MP, Assembly for fixing bridge on River Ebi

Mr Ackah Watson, the Assembly Member for Awiebo and Ebi electoral area, has lauded Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the Member of Parliament ( MP) for Ellembelle, and the District Assembly for fixing a broken bridge on the river Ebi along the Teleku-Bokazo to Aiyinasi route.

He said the fixed bridge had opened the area to the rest of the District thereby boosting their economic activities.

Mr Watson was speaking to Ghana New Agency in an interview during a visit to inspect the fixed bridge, as well as works on a new concrete bridge to replace the old steel bridge.

The Ebi bridge which links towns between Esiama to Teleku-Bokazo through to Aiyinasi had been broken for about four years now, with situation affecting the movement of goods and services thereby crippling the local economy and bringing untold hardships on the people.

Mr Watson, thus, expressed gratitude to the MP and the DCE for the interim measure to fix the bridge to open up the area to traffic, while the Metropolitan Construction Limited made efforts to construct a concrete bridge to replace the steel.

The Assembly Member, the entire road from Teleku-Bokazo to Aiyinasi had been awarded on contract and would be asphalted as soon as the contractor  finish work on the new bridge.

Madam Faridatu Shafu, a resident, said the communities along the River Ebi became miserable when the bridge broke down as traders and market women suffered in transacting their businesses.

She said pregnant women and the sick also faced challenges, as means of transport was not readily available, so we are happy that it has been fixed.
