Police in Dansoman have arrested a woman suspected of stealing a newborn baby from the Mamprobi Polyclinic.

The infant was safely recovered and reunited with his mother at the police station before both were escorted to the polyclinic’s gynaecology department, where the mother is receiving medical care.

The arrest comes after a tense ordeal on Tuesday afternoon, when the father discovered the child had been taken from the facility.

Distressing footage circulating on social media showed the visibly shaken father confronting hospital staff and demanding access to CCTV footage, which reportedly captured the suspect in the act and aided investigators in making a swift arrest.

Ablekuma South Member of Parliament Alfred Oko Vanderpuye helped coordinate efforts between law enforcement and hospital administration to secure the child’s safe return.

The Gender Minister and other local legislators were also present when the family was reunited.

Relatives of the newborn expressed gratitude during an interview with Adom News following the resolution of the incident.

Authorities have assured the public that enhanced security measures will be implemented at the facility to prevent similar occurrences.
