Mr Jones Adutwum, the Principal of the Bechem Technical institute in the Tano South Municipality of the Ahafo Region, has appealed to the government to improve educational infrastructure at the institute.
He said the limited classroom blocks, and poor workshops with obsolete training tools and equipment impeded effective teaching, learning and practical work.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) during a visit to the institute at Bechem, the municipal capital, Mr Adutwum also appealed to stakeholders and corporate bodies to come to their aid.
He said the institute ought to be fenced to improve security and ward-off stray animals, saying the student population kept growing with the institute’s female and male dormitories unable to contain the students.
Besides, Mr Adutuwm said the institute required an infirmary, a pick-up vehicle and a school bus as well as teachers’ bungalows.
In a related interview, Master Stephen Amoah, the Institute’s Prefect told the GNA that those challenges had slowed down their studies and practical work and appealed for government intervention to create a more conducive environment for progressive academic and practical works.
