Mr Sebastian Obeng, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, has spearheaded a clean-up exercise involving various institutions in the municipality.
The initiative aimed to rid Bibiani and its environs of filth, creating a healthy atmosphere ahead of the 2025 Eluo Festival.
The MCE, after the exercise, said maintaining a clean and healthy environment was a shared responsibility, requiring the active participation of all citizens.
He noted that poor sanitation remained a leading cause of preventable diseases and urged residents to make cleanliness a daily habit rather than a periodic activity.
The MCE said sanitation remained a top priority for the Assembly, particularly as the municipality prepared to host thousands of visitors during the upcoming 2025 Eluo Festival.
Mr Obeng indicated that promoting a clean and healthy environment not only reflected positively on the municipality but also enhanced the festival experience for tourists.
Security agencies, including police, fire service personnel, and immigration officers, traditional leaders, and assembly staff, took part in the exercise.
Others were assembly members, commercial drivers, shop owners, traders, youth groups and members of the general public who swept the streets, and desilted choked gutters, particularly at the roundabout and market area.
Nana Kwesi Ator-Ware II, Chief of Sefwi Basengele, expressed his gratitude to residents for their communal spirit in making the clean-up exercise a success.
He commended the MCE and security agencies for their continuous support in maintaining cleanliness and order in the municipality.
The chief encouraged the public to fully participate in this year’s Eluo Festival, scheduled for November 16 to 23.
He noted that a clean environment added beauty, dignity, and success to cultural celebrations.
