A 48-year-old businessman, Francis Arthur, has been remanded into police custody for allegedly beating his girlfriend to death during a domestic dispute in Kumasi.
The incident occurred on April 14, 2026, at Ayigya-Maxima, following a misunderstanding between Arthur and the deceased, Sally Benson, a well-known beautician and owner of Sally’s Cosmetics Studio in Asokwa.
The couple had reportedly been in a relationship for over ten years.
According to police, Sally went to Arthur’s residence with a female friend after receiving information that another woman had visited Arthur.

Arthur was not home at the time. When he returned, Sally confronted him, leading to a heated argument.
Chief Inspector Samuel Agyare told the court that Arthur allegedly assaulted Sally repeatedly during the altercation.
She collapsed, and Arthur reportedly used her own vehicle to rush her to the KNUST Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Arthur appeared before the Asokore Mampong District Court on Tuesday, where Her Worship Hilda Esther Wryter remanded him to reappear on May 8, 2026. Relatives of the deceased were present in court.
The victim’s father, Apostle Gabriel Oppong, has called for justice, saying the family wants the law to take its full course.
“Just like that, you’ve killed my daughter,” an emotional Oppong said.
“The mother is late, and she’s the only daughter. May the government of Ghana make the laws work for us.”
The body of Sally Benson has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
