Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has revealed that various agencies have commenced investigations into the death of Obour’s father.
This comes after claim that the musician concealed the travel history of his father when he escorted him to the Ridge Hospital in Accra.
Obour is said to have put the lives of health workers at risk because they took care of his father, who died shortly of coronavirus, without any protective gears.
It was later discovered that the elderly man had recently returned from a trip to the United States.
The father of the musician died before the results of a COVID-19 test which proved positive was ready.
The deceased is said to have come into contact with about 15 health workers who were unaware of his COVID-19 status.
These health workers are currently self-isolating and the hospital authorities have also disinfected the emergency centre.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah at a press conference on March 29 said the Ghana Health Service and some relevant bodies have commenced investigations into the matter.
He later disclosed on JoyNews that a full report on the matter should be ready by Wednesday, April 2, 2020.
“The initial brief that came in was to the effect that this patient [Obuor’s father] has a prior condition and has been tested…and that his earlier test was not disclosed either to the persons who were picking him up in the ambulance or the persons in the emergency room that had to receive him first”, he said.
The Information Minister also advised the public to volunteer accurate information to the relevant bodies to help fight coronavirus.
