Classroom project boosts education access as Volta Minister commissions new block

A newly completed three-unit classroom block has been commissioned at Sadzikofe in the Afadzato South District, marking renewed commitment to education infrastructure development in the Volta Region.

The facility, inaugurated by Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, is expected to ease congestion and improve teaching and learning in the growing community.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Gunu praised the DCE and the Assembly for “showing clear dedication to expanding educational opportunities for rural communities,” stressing that quality learning environments were essential for academic progress.

He highlighted President John Dramani Mahama’s National Apprenticeship Programme, saying it would give students practical pathways into technical and vocational careers.

“Government is making the needed resources available so young people can acquire employable skills,” he added.

Responding to appeals from residents, the Minister pledged to support the school with football jerseys, balls, and other learning-enhancing items to encourage both academic and extracurricular development.

Mr Manfred Tawiah, the District Chief Executive, said the project began about five years ago but was stalled for a long period.

“When I assumed office, I ensured the contractor was paid so work could resume, and today, we are happy to hand it over to the community,” he stated.
