Court releases Abronye DC’s passport for UK travel

The Accra High Court has granted the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, widely known as Abronye DC, temporary permission to travel to the United Kingdom for a master’s programme.

Justice Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Bassit ordered the temporary release of his passport, with a strict directive to return to Ghana and re-deposit the document by June 30, 2026.

Abronye DC is currently studying at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland.

The decision comes just days after the court ordered his brief re-arrest and remand on June 4, after discovering he had failed to surrender his passport as initially ordered under his GHC100,000 bail terms.

The court restored his bail on June 8 after the registrar confirmed he deposited the document on June 5.

Abronye DC faces charges of offensive conduct and publishing false news following social media comments in April allegedly insulting an Adenta Circuit Court judge.

He has pleaded not guilty.
