Cradle Care, an organisation dedicated to promoting maternal and child welfare, has brought festive cheer to mothers and children at the Children’s Block of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital during its annual Christmas outreach.
The event, in partnership with Yumvita, an infant cereal brand under Promasidor Ghana, forms part of Cradle Care’s yearly Christmas activities and provided warm meals, drinks and emotional support to more than 800 mothers and children on admission.

This year marks the eighth consecutive edition of the initiative, underscoring Cradle Care’s commitment to creating a nurturing environment for families.
Speaking at the event, Maame Serwaa Akosua Gyening, Founder of Cradle Care, said the outreach was aimed at spreading hope and joy to families spending the festive season in hospital.
“Christmas is about love, compassion and putting smiles on faces, especially those going through difficult moments. For us at Cradle Care, this is a reminder that mothers and children are seen, valued and not alone,” she stated.
The celebration featured face painting, interactive sessions and distribution of food and drinks to create a lively and comforting atmosphere. Volunteers also engaged mothers who appeared distressed, offering words of encouragement and support.

Yumvita’s partnership with Cradle Care reflects shared values around maternal care and child nutrition.
Mrs. Emmeline Tagoe, Category Lead for Infant Cereal at Promasidor Ghana, said the collaboration aligns with the brand’s mission to deliver quality and affordable nutrition.
“Cradle Care reached out to us, and we deemed it fit to partner them because of the consistency and impact of their work,” she noted.
Promasidor Ghana donated over 500 exercise books, boxes of Yumvita infant cereal, Cowbell dairy products and Twisco beverages to mothers and children as part of the celebration.
Lawrencia Akweley Turckson, Head of Engagement and Experience Unit at the Child Health Department, expressed appreciation to Cradle Care for its sustained efforts.
“Their continued presence and support bring comfort and joy to mothers and children during the Christmas season,” she said.
Cradle Care continues to make a positive impact through partnerships and community engagement, reaffirming its mission to build healthier families and brighter futures.
