The Dambai ferry which transports both passengers and goods is said to have broken down. The ferry transports passengers and goods across the River Oti in the Oti Region en route to Accra.
According to reports, the ferry developed an engine fault at Dambai and has caused unrest and uneasiness amongst passengers.
The other alternate route to the Northern region through the eastern corridor road has been blocked because of construction work.
Some passengers say, they stayed Thursday night in Dambai in the hopes that the ferry could be fixed so they embark on their journey but to no avail.
They said it was either they stayed on till the ferry was fixed, however long that will take, or risk travelling on engine boats, that do not offer life jackets.
Whichever the option they choose to go with, they are stranded at the moment and call on the government to either change the ferry or provide a bridge across the river, so they can cross to and fro.
An immediate fix of the engine of the ferry would be a much faster solution for them.
