Ghanaian Highlife musician, Kwaisey Pee has declared that any artist doing any genre apart from Highlife won’t last in Ghana’s music industry.

The singer believes that Highlife is the only authentic music genre that should be promoted in Ghana.

In an interview with Oyokodehye Kofi on Highlife Time TV on CTV, he said that Dancehall artists, RnB artists and other artists doing other genres apart from Highlife won’t last and will fade away very early.

“If you want to last long in the system and also have your songs last for long, Highlife is the best. The other genres don’t last. Here in Ghana, it doesn’t last”, he said in the Twi language.

“Someone says he is doing RnB…You can’t do RnB more than R.Kelly or Usher. Some say they are doing Dancehall and Reggae. You can’t beat the Jamaicans”, he added.

Kwaisey Pee noted that his knowledge of these facts influenced his decision to stay with Highlife.

He said though some of his contemporaries have switched to other genres, he prefers to continue with Highlife music.

Kwaisey Pee has albums such as ‘Nyame Ye’, ‘Odo’, ‘Mabre’, ‘Krokro Me’ ‘Akono Yaa’, and ‘Nyane Me’.
