Dear Dave: He wants me out of the house

Valentina N.A.D. Okang

I am almost eight months pregnant, and this is my second pregnancy. My first child is three years old.

I usually do not discuss my marital issues outside marriage, however, I think my husband is being unreasonable.

Two days ago, he suggested I moved in with my parents to deliver the baby. I asked why, and he said because I did that during the first pregnancy. He also says every woman moves to/with their parents’ to deliver.

Yesterday, when I returned from the hospital, he had packed my belongings in a suitcase.

I unpacked them and he got angry. His problem is, he may not have the time to be keeping me company, and also, babysitting me during these periods. I picked the phone to invite my mother over and he asked me not to.

He says he doesn’t want anyone around. He and my mum are in very good terms too.

We have two extra free bedrooms unoccupied. I just don’t understand my husband. I asked who would take care of our daughter in my absence since he claims he wouldn’t have time, and he said, for our daughter, he would make time.

He is packing my things right now to drop me off. I am quiet because I do not want to fight. I am not in the mood. What is the meaning of this? “
